Expo

IEEE ICME 2011 Expo is open to the public.

Exhibition

IEEE International Conference on Multimedia & Expo (ICME) has been the flagship multimedia conference sponsored by four IEEE societies (Communications, Computer, Circuits and Systems; and Signal Processing) since 2000. It serves as a forum to promote the exchange of the latest advances in multimedia technologies, systems and applications from both the research and development perspectives of the circuits and systems, communications, computer and signal processing communities, among others. An Exposition of multimedia products, animations and industries will be held in conjunction with the conference.

The goal of the Exhibit and Industrial Program is to promote applied research and applications, as well as facilitate collaborations between industrial and academia members of the multimedia community.

Note that the exhibit registration includes space (3x2m2), internet access, electricity, and a laptop (if needed). It also includes one free conference registration as well.

The Exhibition Registration Form can be downloaded from here (PDF format) or here (MS WORD format).

Demos

883 AN IMAGE FORENSICS TOOL FOR COPY-MOVE DETECTION AND LOCALIZATION
Irene Amerini, Lamberto Ballan, Roberto Caldelli, Alberto del Bimbo, Luca Del Tongo, Giuseppe Serra
We demonstrate a novel image forensics tool for copy-move detection and localization. The proposed method can determine if such tampering has occurred and which image patches are involved, and it also recovers which geometric transformation was used to perform cloning.

889 NEXTSHARETV: A SET-TOP BOX FOR BITTORRENT-BASED LIVE STREAMING
Mark Stuart, Mike Buckham, Richard Marsh, Michael Eberhard, Johnathan Ishmael, Chris Needham, Christian Timmerer
The demo presents a low-cost consumer electronics set-top box for streaming live video content using cost-efficient P2P networks. The set-top box can receive HDTV content and its main features include content discovery, high-quality playback, easy user management, and social interaction.

892 SEARCH IN LARGE VIDEO ARCHIVES USING QUERIES BASED ON A SYNTHETIC 3D HUMAN MODEL
Stephan Veigl, Csaba Beleznai
Searching through large video archives for a specific person is a challenging task, especially if you have a textual description only. Our system allows novel search queries which are defined by a combination of conventional rules and 3D avatars, thereby showing a processing performance of 100x real-time.

895 A PROCESSING TOOL FOR EMOTIONALLY COLOURED SPEECH
Ronald Böck, Ingo Siegert, Bogdan Vlasenko, Andreas Wendemuth, Matthias Haase, Julia Lange
The processing tool "ikannotate" provides serveral options in transcription, annotation, and labelling of emotionally coloured speech. Annotation can be done according to the conversation-analytic-system-of-transcription. It supports also three labelling methods: Basic Emotions, Geneva Emotion Wheel, and Self-Assessment Manikins. Moreover, several add-ons are plugged-in to prepare material for further analyses.

905 SYSTEM FOR REAL-TIME DETECTION OF BROADCASTED TV COMMERCIALS
Dimitar Taskovski, Vlado Kitanovski
This demo presents a prototype system that implements a recognition-based method for real-time TV commercial detection. The system performs two basic tasks: real-time detection of known commercials that are previously stored in a database, and identifying unknown commercials that should be recognized later by manual inspection.

925 SEARCHING FOR VIDEOS ON APPLE IPAD AND IPHONE
Colum Foley, Jinlin Guo, David Scott, Paul Ferguson, Cathal Gurrin
In this demonstration we introduce our content-based video search system which runs as an app on the Apple iPad or iPhone. We have developed a simple but engaging content based video search engine which uses an iPad or iPhone app as the front-end user interface. Our app supports the three common modes for content-based video search: text search, concept search and image-similarity search.

930 A FLEXIBLE SYSTEM FOR MULTIMEDIA MANAGEMENT AND PUBLISHING
Marco Bertini, Giuseppe Becchi, Andrea Ferracani, Alberto del Bimbo, George Ioannidis, Alexandru Stan, Emile Bijk
The IM3I (www.im3i.eu) platform provides a flexible approach for the management, annotation and publishing of collections of images and videos. The system is based on web services that allow automatic and manual annotation, retrieval, browsing and authoring of multimedia content.

934 SMART VIDEO BUDDY – CONTENT-BASED LIVE RECOMMENDATION
Damian Borth, Christian Kofler, Adrian Ulges
We present Smart Video Buddy , a content-based live recommender that links video streams with other relevant information sources. The system performs a real-time analysis of video content by feeding a scenes?color and local patches to statistical learners, which mine the video stream for semantic concepts. Based on the provided recognition results, recommendations for news, products, links are made and automatically adapted to what is being watched in real-time. This way, passive video consumption is turned into an interactive experience.

935 OPENGL SC EMULATION BASED ON WINDOWS PC'S
Nakhoon Baek, Hwanyong Lee
OpenGL SC library is now working on Microsoft Windows PC's. OpenGL SC is the Safety-Critical profile of the famous OpenGL family. You can develop and execute OpenGL SC programs on the desktop PC's. We will demonstrate the OpenGL SC emulation library and its successful behaviors.

937 LET EPITOME SUMMARIZE YOUR PHOTO COLLECTION!
Peter Vajda, Ivan Ivanov, Lutz Goldmann, Touradj Ebrahimi
We present an approach for photo album summarization through a novel social game Epitome. This application provides an intuitive user interface as a web and mobile application and creates photo collages for Facebook photo albums. Its potential users can enjoy watching their friends' photos while playing it.

949 MUMA: A MUSIC SEARCH ENGINE BASED ON CONTENT ANALYSIS
Arthur Lenoir, Rémi Landais, Geoffroy Peeters, Laurent Oudre, Thomas Fillon
We introduce here MUMA (MUsic Mashup, http://muma.labs.exalead.com), a new search engine that relies both on textual metadata and signal processing metadata. MUMA is a web-based application which allows the user to search for particular chords sequences, for specific moods, and to listen to automatically generated song summaries.

952 TOWARDS MULTIMODAL PLAYER ADAPTIVITY IN A SERIOUS GAME FOR FAIR RESOURCE DISTRIBUTION
Corrado Grappiolo, Georgios Yannakakis, Stylianos Asteriadis, Kostas Karpouzis
The overall aim is the development of an adaptive serious game for teaching conflict resolution. We present an initial demonstrator (resource management conflict scenario) which detects and models player in-game behaviors and cognitive processes and, based on these, automatically generates content that drives the player towards personalized conflict resolution scenarios.

955 QUANTIZER TECHNOLOGY: REAL-TIME DISPLAYING OF MILLIONS OF POLYGONS
Leonardo Fonteles, Marc Antonini, Yves Demange, Bruno Stefanizzi
Quantizer is a 3D data codec for PC or mobiles. It can reduce data by a ratio of 50 to 100 without perceptible artifacts. Its GPU implementation drastically reduces buses and video memory usage. It brings a new performance step to display multi-resolution meshes of hundreds of millions of polygons.

1031 EXPRESSIVE VIRTUAL STORYTELLING
Marc Antonijoan, Francesc Alías, Marc Rovira, Gabriel Fernandez
This system merges expressive text-to-speech synthesis with gesture and facial animation synthesis for story telling purposes. Starting from an input text (a tale) tagged with emotional information, the system generates an audiovisual stream with the corresponding expressive photorealistic 3D avatar performance.
